Free radical scavenging activity of Flacourtia ramontchi L'Her

ABSTRACT

To evaluate the free radical scavenging activity of Flacourtia ramontchi L. The free radical scavenging activity of methanolic extract of Flacourtia ramontchi was studied using DPPH and nitric oxide scavenging assays. The methanolic extract of Flacourtia ramontchi showed concentration dependent free radical scavenging activity comparable to that of ascorbic acid, which was used as standard. IC[50] was found to be 55.30 micro g/ml and 102.73 micro g/ml in DPPH assay and NO radical scavenging assay respectively. The present study indicates that methanolic extract of Flacourtia ramontchi possesses good free radical scavenging activity
