ABSTRACT
This work was performed to prove the potential power of the perichodrium to from new cartilage. The experiments were performed upon the auricles of twenty-four dogs. The dogs were divided into four groups upon which different operations were performed. From the obtained results, it was found that the perichondrium has a great power of regeneration and formation of new cartilage. This process can be enhanced by the presence of haematoma or after injection of fresh blood between the two perichondrial layers. After application of human-shaped ear metal models to the operated ears, it was possible to get new auricles more or less similar to the human-shaped auricles. The results were discussed in relation to the potentialitiesof the perichondrium in new cartilage transplantation of the perichondrium to cases of tracheal defects and to cases of accidental destroyed auricles
