ABSTRACT
Ten patients suffering from early lesions of RPP, participated in this study. For each patient, the mandibular premolar molar regions were selected randomly, so that, one quadrant was treated with scaling and root planing followed by surgical gingivectomy and the contrary quadrant treated with scaling and root planing alone, in trial to alter the RPP progression, through changing the environmental condition of the causative bacteria. The soft tissue change and alveolar bone level were evaluated clinically and radiographically pre-treatment and at 24 months post-treatment. From this study it was concluded that, early diagnosis of RPP is necessary to stop or delay its progression, complete eradication of early formed periodontal pockets in RPP may retard its progression
