ABSTRACT
Hypertension has now been recognized as the single most important aetiological factor in the pathogenesis of stroke in most studies throughout the world. The present study also found a strong association between hypertension and stroke. According to the present study, women suffer more often from stroke than men. Moreover, elevated blood pressure is found as often in female stroke patients as in male patients. Maximum cases of stroke occur between the ages of 75 to 84 in the developed world but stroke appears to occur at a younger age in Pakistan
