ABSTRACT
A prospective randomized study of the value of drainage in uncomplicated cholecystectomy is presents were allocated to a control group without drainage, and another fifty patients were provided with surgical drains. All patients were from the surgical department of Ain Shams University hospitals and AL-Gubail new hospital eastern area Saudia Arabia along the period from November 1989 to January 1992. complications were few in either group, but the rate of subjective discomfort was greater in the drain group. The non drain group had a significantly shorter hospital stay. The observations suggest that routine drainage in uncomplicated cholecystectomy is unnecessary
