ABSTRACT
Eighty patients with non-infusion superficial venous thrombosis were studied. The median age was 34 years [range 20-54], with a male to female ratio of 35. The median duration of symptoms was three days [range one day to one week]. The majority occurred in varicose vein, 25% occurred in normal veins and 12.5% were recurrent [thrombophlebitis migrans]. Six of the latter suffered from Buerger's disease, while the other four had abdominal malignancies. Deep vein thrombosis was detected in ten patients and two of the latter had varicose veins. Most of the patients were managed conservatively
