ABSTRACT
Clanobutin sodium [Bykahepar[R]] a choleretic and digestant agent was administered to three groups of male [Baladi-chickens]. The drug was injected once per week for 12 weeks. Histopathological changes were investigated. Congestion, degenerative changes and hyperplasia occurred with highly distended gall bladder. Chickens administered clanobutin sodium at a dose of 10 or 20 mg/kg. b. wt. showed an insignificant increase in growth rate than the control. The treated chickens suffered a significant increase in alkaline phosphatase, GOT, GPT and cholesterol levels than the control. It could be concluded that clanobutin sodium at higher doses results in retardation of growth and impairment of the function of the liver
