study of the influence of chronic maintenance hemodialysis on serum lipids and lipoproteins in chronic uremia

ABSTRACT

Serum lipids and lipoproteins were studied in a group of 15 patients undergoing chronic maintenance dialysis in Alexandria. The study revealed elevated triglyceride levels and hyper pre-beta-lipoproteinaemia. These lipid abnormalities may be involved in the increased atherogenic process in these patients. A multifactorial approach must be considered for explaining these lipid abnormalities in chronic dialysis patients
