[Portal vein thrombosis revealing appendicular abscess - a case report]

ABSTRACT
To report a case of portal vein thrombosis revealing an appendicular abscess. Case report a 45 -year-old man presented to the emergency room with liver pain and fever. An ultrasonography showed portal vein thrombosis and collection in the right iliac fossa evoked a pylephlebitis originated from an appendicitis abscess. The surgical operation has confirmed the diagnosis and the patient has been treated by antibiotic and heparin. The patient has shown a good clinical and radiological evolution. The pylephlebitis is a rare and sometimes fatal complication of intra abdominal suppurative infections [diverticulite, appendicite]
