Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase [MTHFR] is an important enzyme of folate/homocysteine pathway and is essential for DNA synthesis and methylation. MTHFR gene polymorphisms have been reported as risk factors for congenital defects and several metabolic and neurological disorders.
