Water sorption and diffusion kinetics of soft liners and denture base materials

The aim of this study was to characterize water sorption, desorption anddiffusion kinetics, at room temperature and at body temperature, for acrylic,and silicone soft lining materials and also, for comparative evaluation, ofacrylic [hard] denture base materials. The results showed that the watersorption and diffusion rate of the silicone soft lining materials werestatistically different from those of the hard acrylic denture base materials,while the rate of diffusion and those equilibration values for the acrylicsoft lining materials were close to that of the acrylic denture base materials
