ABSTRACT
Total serum 1gE levels of 430 blood donors who ranged in age from 17 to 50 years. were determined using paper radioimmunosorbent test [PRIST]. No influence of sex nor of age on serum 1gE levels was found among the nonsmoker males and females, The mean IgE value for this reference group was 106.2 iu/ml. Smoker males, 31 to 40 years of age had higher IgE values [mean=173.8 iu/ml] The mean value of 106.2 + 2SD i.e. 122.5 iu/ml may be considered as the normal uper limit of serum IgE in our reference population
