ABSTRACT
Recurrent tonsillitis is a common infection. This study stresses on proper clinical assessment. This was conducted on 80 cases which needed tonsillectomy. At surgery gentle dissection minimizes blood loss. Average blood loss was 85 ml. Tonsil core swabs showed pathogenic bacteria in 36% tonsils. All the patients were followed up for a period from 3 months to 4 years. Most patients [96%] were found to have significant reduction of sore throat, fever and obstructive symptoms in the follow up period. We conclude that Tonsillectomy is the main stay for chronically infected Tonsils
