ABSTRACT
Antisperm antibodies are probably responsible for a number of cases of unexplained infertility. There are several factors responsible for antisperm antibodies formation, chronic prostatitis is an important one. Sixty patients suffering from chronic prostatitis and twenty normal fertile controls are enrolled into this study. Mixed antiglobulin reaction [MAR] test was used to detect antisperm antibodies in their semen while sperm immobilization test was done to detect antisperm antibodies in their serum. The results of this study showed that the duration of chronic prostatitis significantly affect fertility. There was non statistically significant difference in MAR test results in patients with chronic prostatitis as compared to normal controls. There was a statistically significant difference of sperm immobilization test results in patients as compared to normal controls. There was a significant relation between the duration of chronic prostatitis and positive MAR test sperm immobilization test results. The incidence of MAR test positive cases was higher in infertile patients than fertile cases and normal controls, but this did not reach the level of statistical significance. Sperm immobilization test results showed a statistically significant positivity in infertile patients as compared to fertile, single and normal controls. There was non statistically significant difference between sperm count or motility and positivity of either MAR test or sperm immobilization test
