ABSTRACT
This study was conducted on 180 infants with gastroenteritis their ages ranged from half month to 16 months. They were divided into three groups according to their type of feeding [breast fed, Mixed fed and Nonbreast fed]. All studied cases were subjected to careful history taking and examination. Their stool samples were examined for detection of Rotavirus antigen using Enzygnost Rotavirus antigen. Milk samples from mothers of breast fed and mixed fed infants were tested by microcomplement fixation test to estimate the antibody titre against rotavirus. Results showed significant lower frequency of vomiting and diarrhea among breast-fed and mixed fed infants than that among non breast fed. Also Breast fed infants showed milder degree of dehydration than that found among both nonbreast fed and mixed fed with statistically significant difference. Breast fed infants with Rotavirus gastroenteritis complained of milder degree of dehydration than that among mixed fed and artificially fed
