ABSTRACT
This study comprised 25 elder male subjects with ages ranged from 50 to 70 years. None of the subjects had a history of bone disease, renal, liver or endocranial disorders, cardiac affection or intake of any drugs that might effect bone metabolism. The subjects were divided randomly into two groups Group I [study group] comprised 15 subjects participated in back exercise program, three sessions per week during eight months and group II served as a control group comprising ten subjects who were asked to maintain their current life style. An osteo CT was used for the quantitative assessment of bone mass in the vertebral bodies of the lumbar spines. The results showed that there is a significant increase in the standard value of bone mass after eight months of training exercise in group I, while in group II there was no significant decrease. So, it was concluded that a training program for eight months might be therapeutically effective in the prevention of bone loss in the lumbar spine in old age
