Pyocolpos: a report of two cases

ABSTRACT

Hydrocolpos is an uncommon abnormality in the female. It usually presents with an asymptomatic lower abdominal mass with or without a bulge at vaginal introitus depending on the couse. Rarely hydrocolpos becomes infected leading to the formation of pyocolpos which can life threatening and further complicates the management. This is a report of two neonates with pyocolpos. To obviate such a serious complication, early diagnosis and referral for treatment is advocate
