Elective hepatic resection

ABSTRACT
Improvements in morbidity and mortality for liver resection have followed a better understanding of the hepatic anatomy and physiology accompanied by some technical innovations. Fourteen cases of elective hepatic resection were done for different pathological conditions of the liver; these cases included five cases of benign lesions, eight cases of primary hepatocellular carcinoma [HCC] and one case of liver metastasis from colorectal carcinoma. Anatomical resection in the form of lobotomy or segmentectomy was performed in 11 cases and non- anatomical resection in the form of wedge resection or enucleation was done in another three cases. The results were encouraging
