method for estimating the maxillary basal seat for complete denture

ABSTRACT

40 edentulous maxillary casts were obtained by standard technique. The area of the basal seat was outlined and estimated using the suggested wax and graph paper method in comparison to two other usable methods [emperical equation and replication methods]. Results were analized and compared. It can be concluded that 1. Wax and graph paper method is considered as valid method for estimating the maxillary basal seat for complete denture. 2. It can be applied to measure the area of the mandibular basal seat. 3. Evaluating the area of basal seat for cases of extensive partial dentures can be done by this method:
