ABSTRACT
Autotransfusion of extravasated blood in the peritoneal cavity of a patient with a rare blood group can be life saving under emergency conditions. This blood must be collected under sterile conditions and should be of less than 48 hours duration. The equipment required is simple and easily available in every hospital. Our patient was transfused with almost 3 litres of her own blood lying in the peritoneal cavity as a result of ruptured tubal pregnancy. She made in uneventful recovery
