ABSTRACT
The State Health Department in Säo Paulo - SHD/SP joined the School of Health of the University of Säo Paulo to develop a training program for professionals involved in the prevention of job related accidents and professional diseases. From 1987 to 1990 twenty-two courses attended by 489 professionals, were ministered. After a period of three years, it was decided to evaluate the impact of these courses on the worker's health of the Regionals Health Districts - RHDs, and on the professional development of the trained people. Two questionaires were sent by mail. One of them to be answered by the Directors of the 65 RHDs and the other one by professionals who attended the courses. From the 65 existing RHDs, 54 anmswers were obtained (83,1 per cent). From the 364 questionaires sent to the students, 133 were answered (36,5 per cent). The conclusions were that the majority of the RHDs introduced the Workers Health Program at regional level and the training influenced favourably activities in Worker's Health. The priority to qualification for diagnosis treatment and prevention of professional diseases is recommended.
