ABSTRACT

To understand the evolution of medicine since its beginnings is necessary to observe it in its context. Medicine has developed always in interaction with the political, religious, economic ans social environment. The variables that can affect medicine, besides those of the environment just mentioned, are the development of the technologies used by medicine and the processes of the formation of the medical personnel the teaching of medicine. This essay reviews the history of medicine in the context of all those variables, in an effort to visualize its near future
