ABSTRACT
The arrangement of the fibromuscular tissue of the gubernaculum testis of 13 fetuses with gestational ages ranging from 16 to 28 weeks was studied. The results show that the smooth muscle fibers present a predominantly longitudinal arragement, clustering on the fringe of the gubernaculum; connective tissue is mostly undifferentiated, and no typical collagen fibers were found; there was no evidence of the presence of "mature", elauninic and oxytalanic elastic fibers.
