RESUMEN

La Enfermería, desde sus inicios, ha sido acompañada por una simbología que la caracteriza y que encierra un significado relevante en su desarrollo como profesión. En la actualidad a pesar de la existencia de normas y del esfuerzo que se viene realizando, se observan con frecuencia modificaciones y uso incorrecto del uniforme. Para argumentar la importancia del uso adecuado del uniforme y sus atributos y su efecto social, se efectuó una revisión bibliográfica y consultas a expertos de la asistencia y la docencia en esta temática, en el primer trimestre del año 2005. Se exponen los elementos esenciales para el uso correcto de esta vestimenta y para la buena apariencia del personal de enfermería en los servicios asistenciales. Los profesionales de enfermería tienen la responsabilidad de mejorar la situación actual y proceder como agentes de cambio. Una enfermera u enfermero vestido correctamente inspira confianza y es socialmente respetado. Los aspectos planteados permitirán revalorar la importancia del uso correcto del uniforme, elemento esencial para una buena imagen social de los enfermeros y enfermera(AU)

ABSTRACT

The Infirmary, from their beginnings, it has been accompanied by a simbología that characterizes it and that it locks an excellent meaning in their development as profession. At the present time in spite of the existence of norms and of the effort that one comes carrying out, they are frequently observed modifications and incorrect use of the uniform. To argue the importance of the appropriate use of the uniform and their attributes and their social effect, a bibliographical revision was made and you consult to experts of the attendance and the docencia in this thematic one, in the first trimester of the year 2005. The essential elements are exposed for the correct use of this gear and for the infirmary personnel's good appearance in the assistance services. The infirmary professionals have the responsibility of to improve the current situation and to proceed as agents of change. A nurse or male nurse dressed correctly inspire trust and it is socially respected. The outlined aspects will allow to revalue the importance of the correct use of the uniform, essential element for a good social image of the male nurses and nurse(AU)
