RESUMO
Objetivo:
Avaliar a insegurança alimentar familiar e relacioná-la com as características de consumo alimentar destas famílias com a finalidade de buscar alternativas viáveis para a superação do problema da fome. Material eMétodos:
Um questionário estruturado foi aplicado por um entrevistador devidamente treinado, preferencialmente ao chefe da família selecionada.Resultados:
Mais de 36% das famílias declararam que nos últimos três meses haviam diminuído a quantidade de alimentos oferecidos para a(s) criança(s), 20,2%, admitiram que a criança chegou a pular uma das refeições, por falta de comida. Das famílias que diminuíram a quantidade de alimentos da(s) criança(s) os cereais foram afetados por mais de 30% das famílias, seguido de leguminosas, tubérculos, leite e ovos, apenas 10% delas diminuíram o consumo de carne. no município de Princesa Isabel foram observadas boas condições de moradia, embora algumas famílias ainda residam sob condições muito desfavoráveis.Conclusão:
É necessário o esclarecimento aos governantes, chefes das famílias e crianças com relação ao consumo adequado de nutrientes e sua influência no desempenho intelectual e de crescimento, como também inclusão de novas políticas sociais voltadas para geração de renda e melhores condições de saúde, trabalho e moradia para toda a população.ABSTRACT

A structured questionnaire was applied by a properly rained interviewer, preferably to the read of the selected family.Results:
More than 36% of the families declared that in the last three months there had been a decrease in the amount of food offered to the children, 20,2%, admitted that the child had skipped one of the meals, for lack of food. From the families that decreased the children's amount of food, the cereals were affected by more than 30% of the families, followed by leguninous plants, tubercles, milk and eggs, just 10% of them decreased them consumption of meat. In the town of Princesa Isabel, good dwelling conditions were observed, although some families were already living under very unfavorable conditions.Conclusion:
It is necessary to explain to the rulers, heads of the nutrients and influence in the intellectual performance and growth, as well the inclusion of new social policies focused on the generation of income and better conditions of health, work and home for the whole population.
