Resultados del Programa de Salud Ocular en la provincia Ciego de Avila / Results of the Ocular Health Program in Ciego de Avila province

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo de 3454 cirugías oculares realizadas en el servicio de Oftalmología del Hospital “Antonio Luaces Iraola” de la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, en el período comprendido desde Enero del 2002 a Diciembre del 2005 con el objetivo de conocer los resultados de la aplicación del Programa Nacional de Salud Ocular, se analizaron como variables las cirugías por patologías, las cirugías de catarata con y sin implante de LIO y la tasa de cirugía de catarata. En el análisis de los resultados obtenidos se observa un incremento notable en las cirugías oculares excepto en la cirugía de Glaucoma, la cirugía de catarata alcanzó el 56.22 por ciento, el implante de Lentes Intraoculares aumentó en 35.19 por ciento, la Tasa de Cirugía de Catarata tuvo un crecimiento anual importante en relación al año 2002, alcanzándose en el 2005 una tasa de 1703 cirugías de catarata por millón de habitantes.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive observational study of 3454 ocular surgeries at the Ophthalmology service of the “Antonio Luaces Iraola” hospital of Ciego de Avila was conducted, in the time period from January of 2002 to December of 2005 , aiming at knowing the results of the application of the National Program for Ocular Health. Surgeries versus pathologies, surgery of cataract with and without insertion of IOL as well as the rate of cataract operations were analyzed as variables., A notable increase in ocular surgery is seen in the analysis of obtained results, except in the surgery of glaucoma . Surgery of cataract reached (56,22%), insertion of intraocular lenses increased in (35.19%), the rate of surgery of cataract had an annual significant growth as compared to year 2002, In 2005 , a rate of 1703 surgeries of cataract per million inhabitants was reached.
