Gripe Aviar ¿Está Cuba fuera de peligro? / Is Cuba in jeopardy for the Avian Influenza?

RESUMEN

La gripe aviar es una enfermedad causada por el virus de la influenza tipo A, perteneciente a la familia Orthomyxoviridae, unos 200 millones de aves muertas o sacrificadas y el deceso de 129 personas es el saldo actual de la infección por la misma. Teniendo en cuenta la inminente llegada a nuestro continente y en especial a Cuba, decidimos realizar esta revisión bibliográfica, para ello consultamos las bases de datos CuMed, LILACS, Medline, WHOLIS y el localizador de información de salud LIS Cuba; en la misma se expone de forma actualizada sus principales características microbiológicas, epidemiológicas, clínicas y su situación actual en el mundo. Se aborda además sobre la existencia del Sistema de Vigilancia cubano para esta enfermedad y su fortalecimiento, así como la repercusión social, económica y en materia de salud pública que produciría la llegada de lo que ya se considera la posible primera pandemia del presente siglo.

ABSTRACT

The avian influenza is a disease caused by the virus of influenza type A, pertaining to the Orthomyxoviridae family, about 200 of dead birds or sacrificed and death of 129 people it is the present balance of this infection by it. Taking into account the imminent breaking out in our continent and specially to Cuba, we decided to make this bibliographical review, for which purpose we consulted the data bases CUMED, LILACS, MEDLINE, WHOLIS and the localizer of health information LIS Cuba. In it, we expose in an updated way its main microbiological, epidemiologic, clinic characteristics and their present situation in the world. In addition the existence to the Cuban System of Monitoring for this disease and its strengthening, as well as the public social, economic repercussion and in the matter of health that would produce the arrival of what is already considered as the possible first pandemic of the present century.
