Memória coletiva e cidadania: resgatando a luta por direitos / Collective memory and citizenship: redeeming the notion of rights

RESUMO

Este artigo tem a finalidade de mostrar como a noção de direitos aparece como fio condutor da memória coletiva, num estudo realizado com três populações que sucederam a greve dos operários da Fábrica de Cimento Perus Portland, periferia da Zona Oeste de São Paulo, conhecida como a "Luta dos Queixadas". Pudemos identificar que a questão dos direitos aparece em todos os discursos, destacando-se, na memória dos entrevistados, a resistência baseada na luta por direitos sociais, o estilo de luta dos Queixadas e os princípios éticos que regeram essa luta e que permanecem como aprendizado e valores a serem seguidos. Além disso, cabe ressaltar que na memória coletiva de netos, sindicalistas atuais e lideranças comunitárias os Queixadas são fortes referenciais de organização e de luta e que a noção de direitos se sobrepõe a outros significados sociais.

ABSTRACT

The present article aims to show how the notion of rights comes out as a conductive wire from the collective memory, in a study ran with three populations that succeeded the strike of the workers from the Fábrica de Cimento Perus Portland, located in the suburb in the West Zone of Sao Paulo, known as the "Battle of the Queixadas”. We were able to identify that the rights issue comes out in all the speeches of the ones who were interviewed, being remarkable in their memories the resistance based on the struggle for social rights, the style of the battle of the Queixadas, and the ethical principIes that they fought for in this battle and that remain as a learning and as a value to be followed. Furthermore, it is worthy to note That in the collective memory of grandchildren, current union members and community leaderships, the Queixadas are a strong reference of organization and contest, and that the notion of rights prevails upon other social meanings.
