ABSTRACT
The notion of analysts desire, introduced by Lacan in 1958, is circumscribed from two Lacanian axioms the one that defines the object of psychoanalysis as being equated to the subject of science, and the one that places psychoanalysiss mission as being in charge of reintroducing the Name-of-the-Father to scientific consideration. From this configuration, the authors presents the thesis that the analysts discourse, created by Lacan, is the short and logical formalization of the analysts desire. Besides, it shows that the analysts discourse updates the debate between Freud and science, which began in The issue of a Weltanschauung, formalizes psychoanalysis's task and takes its debates with science equally to the introduction of the term analysts desire.
