Celularidad del adenoma pleomorfo / Number of cells of pleomorphic adenoma

RESUMEN

El adenoma pleomorfo o tumor mixto benigno es el más frecuente de los tumores benignos de las glándula salivales, compuesto fundamentalmente por proliferación de células mioepiteliales y por amplio espectro de componentes de tejido epitelial y mesenquimal, rodeado por una cápsula fibrosa. Objetivo: determinar la relación entre celularidad y edad del paciente en adenoma pleomorfo. Material y Método: Seleccionamos 150 casos de adenoma pleomorfo de los cuales se tenían placas con hematoxilinaeosina. Se tomaron tres microfotografías de cada caso con aumento 40X y en base a ellas se obtuvo la celularidad promedio. Resultados: Tanto en hombres como mujeres a medida que la edad aumentaba, se observó que la celularidad disminuía, siendoun poco más acentuado en mujeres. Esto podría tener importancia en la recurrencia de algunos adenomas pleomorfos.

ABSTRACT

Pleomorphic adenoma or benign mixed tumor is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands. It is composed by aproliferation of myoepithelial cells and a vast array of epithelial and mesenchymal elements surrounded by a fibrous capsule. Purpose: the aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between the number of cell and the age of the patient with pleomorphic adenoma. Materials and Methods: one hundred and fifty selected histo pathologic slides stained with hematoxylineosin were selected. In three photomicrographic at 40 X magnification of each case the mean number of cells were obtained. Results: the mean number of cells decreased with the age without difference in gender but with a slight tendency in women. This finding could be of importance in the relapse of the pleomorphic adenoma.
