Correlações entre a EFN - Escala Fatorial de Neuroticismo e o IFP - Inventário Fatorial de Personalidade / Correlations between the EFN - Factorial Scale of Neuroticism and the IFP - Factorial Inventory of Personality

RESUMO

O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar as correlações entre os fatores da Escala Fatorial de Neuroticismo e do Inventário Fatorial de Personalidade. Influências das variáveis idade e sexo também foram investigadas. Participaram do estudo 72 pessoas (36 homens e 36 mulheres), com idades que variaram de 18 a 59 anos. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a EFN e o IFP. Os resultados indicaram que 11 dos 14 fatores do IFP considerados neste estudo apresentaram correlações significativas com pelo menos um dos fatores da EFN (variando entre 0,25 e 0,61, positivas ou negativas). Tais dados sugerem que, embora exista uma relação entre as dimensões do IFP e as facetas do Neuroticismo, estas variáveis não se sobrepõem substancialmente.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlations between the factors of the EFN and the IFP scales. The effects of age and sex were also investigated. The participants were 72 persons (36 men and 36 women), aged between 18 and 59 years. The instruments used were the EFN and the IFP. The results indicated that 11 of the 14 factors of IFP considered in this study had significant correlations with at least one of the factors of EFN (ranging between 0.25 and 0.61, positive or negative). These data suggest that although there is a relationship between the dimensions of the IFP and the facets of Neuroticism, these variables do not overlap substantially.
