ABSTRACT
The objective of this paper is to present some results of an investigation the processes of health/sickness/attention (from now hsa) that indigenous women and their families - that are inhabitants of the rural areas of the Puna Jujeña - go through. The election of the rural social space is based in the fact that it is one of the less frequent contexts where to tackle women and their health problems. To indigenous communities of the province of Jujuy , in North Argentina , the program which is called Primary Attention in Health (APS in Spanish) meant the gradual reduction of childrens morbidity and mortality. Those results where evaluated assuccessful by the planners. However, that process was followed by a progressive reduction of the resources and practices in indigenous medicine and of those people that exerted it, astraditional therapists. Also the biomedical institution focused basically in womens health trough their reproductive stage, trying to affect their reproductive trajectories, not considering if women were or were not within their reproductive age.
