Verbalizações de terapeuta e cliente e estabelecimento de relações na evolução de uma terapia analítico-comportamental / Verbalizations of therapists and clients and the establishment of relationships in the development of behavior-analysis therapy

O estudo envolveu o acompanhamento de um caso clínico atendido por uma terapeuta analítico-comportamental, com o objetivo de identificar, categorizar e analisar as funções básicas das verbalizações do terapeuta, além de analisar as verbalizações de terapeuta e cliente quanto às relações estabelecidas entre respostas do cliente fora da sessão e eventos ambientais antecedentes e subsequentes a estas. A análise das verbalizações da terapeuta foi feita com base em categorias relativas às funções básicas das verbalizações de terapeuta (FBVT) e também foram, juntamente com as verbalizações da cliente, analisadas a partir de categorias de análise, que especificavam se o interlocutor estabelecia relações entre uma resposta da cliente e eventos antecedentes e/ou subsequentes. A análise dos resultados mostrou que a terapeuta não apresentou um modelo padronizado em suas intervenções, prevalecendo aquelas de caráter investigativo e as que confrontavam a cliente com questões anteriormente abordadas por ela mesma. Apenas uma pequena proporção das intervenções da terapeuta sugeria relações entre uma resposta da cliente e contingências ambientais, predominando dentre estas últimas, as relações do tipo antecedente-resposta. Comparada com a terapeuta, a cliente estabeleceu um maior número de relações entre eventos ambientais e suas respostas, também predominantemente do tipo antecedente-resposta.

ABSTRACT

The study involved the monitoring of a clinical case by a behavior-analysis therapist and it identified, classified and analyzed the basic functions of the therapist’s verbalizations and analyzed the verbalizations of both therapist and client with regard to established relationships between client’s responses and prior or subsequent environmental events. The analysis of the therapist’s verbalizations was based on categories related to the basic functions of the therapist’s verbalization which were also analyzed together with the client’s verbalizations based on the categories of analysis, which were stipulated if the interlocutor established relationships between the client’s response and prior or subsequent events. The analysis of the results showed that the therapist did not present a standardized model for interventions. What prevailed were interventions of an investigative nature and those in which he confronted the client with issues which she herself had previously mentioned. Only a small portion of the therapist’s interventions suggests links between the response of the client and environmental contingencies. Among the latter, the antecedent-response connections were predominant. Compared to the therapist, the client established a greater number of relationships between environmental events and her responses, which were also of the antecedent-response type.
