A importância da mucosa ceratinizada na área periimplantar / The importance of the keratinized mucosa in the Peri-Implant area

RESUMO

O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a espessura da mucosa ceratinizada na face vestibular de implantes unitários localizados entre dentes naturais, na região de primeiros pré-molares, caninos, incisivos laterais e incisivos centrais superiores, após 1 ano de instalação dos implantes. O estudo incluiu 17 implantes instalados em 17 pacientes de ambos os sexos com faixa etária entre 23 e 59 anos de idade. A espessura da mucosa ceratinizada foi medida utilizando um espaçador endodôntico no 25, comum cursor de borracha esterilizado, e aferida por um paquímetro digital. O instrumento foi introduzido na mucosa ceratinizada vestibular, na região do implante, e no dente adjacente ao implante, funcionando como grupo controle. A marcação foi feita 2 mm apical à margem gengival em três pontos o primeiro ponto foi marcado na direção central da coroa (ponto C), o segundo na direção da papila mesial (ponto M) e o terceiro na direção da papiladistal (ponto D). A medida da espessura da mucosa ceratinizada do dente vizinho também foi avaliada em três pontos, da mesma maneira que na região do implante. Comparando-se a média da espessura nos pontos C e M do implante e do dente vizinho, observou-se uma diferença estatisticamente significante (P < 0,05). Já a média do ponto D do implante quando comparada com o dente vizinho não apresentou diferença estatisticamente significante (P > 0,05). Concluiu-se que a mucosa ceratinizada nos pontos C e M do implante é mais espessa que no dente vizinho, sendo tal diferença estatisticamente significante.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to evaluate the thickness of keratinized mucosa on the buccal surface of single-tooth implants placed between natural teeth, in the area of first premolars, canines, lateral incisors, and upper central incisors, one year after the placement of the implants. The sample was composed of 17 implants placed in 17 patients of both gender, with age range from 23 to 59 years-old. The thickness of keratinized mucosa was measured using an endodontic finger spreader 25 attached to a sterilized rubber stopper and verified by a digital gauge. The instrument was inserted in to the buccalkeratinized mucosa, in the implant region, and into the tooth adjacent to the implant, functioning as control group. Marking was done 2mm apically to the gingival margin in three points the first point was marked in the central direction of the crown (point C), the second in the direction of the mesial papilla (point M), and the third in the direction of the distal papilla (point D). The measure of thickness of keratinized mucosa of the neighboring tooth was also evaluated in three points, the same way it was done with the implant region. A statistically significant difference (P<0.05) was observed as thickness average in points C and M of both the implantand the neighboring tooth was compared. On its turn, the average of the point D of the implant when compared tothe neighboring tooth did not present statistically significant difference. It was concluded that keratinized mucosa in points C and M of the implant are thicker than in the neighboring tooth, being such difference statistically significant.
