RESUMEN

El avance de la tecnología actual, ha llegado a abrir la posibilidad de modificar la naturaleza y la propia humanidad del hombre. Este hecho hace imposible rehuir la pregunta sobre si existe algo esencial en el hombre, que debiera ser considerado inviolable, para evitar su modificación o eliminación. El concepto de dignidad humana actualmente sostiene un enorme número de valores, derechos y declaraciones, sin una precisión clara respecto a su significado, sugiriendo que el término por sí mismo sería suficiente para sostener dicha construcción. Este artículo intenta hacer una revisión del concepto de Dignidad Humana, tomando como fuentes más relevantes el pensamiento greco – romano, el pensamiento judeo-cristiano, el pensamiento kantiano y la concepción actual reflejada en los diversos tratados de Derechos Humanos y de la UNESCO, además de mencionar a los detractores de este concepto. La dignidad humana configura nuestra identidad personal, en dos niveles la dignidad básica del ser humano (dada por la naturaleza) y la dignidad total de ser humano (atribuible a la cultura).

ABSTRACT

Insofar technological progress advances, also advances the possibility of altering the nature and the real humanity of man. This fact makes us impossible to evade the question of whether there is something essential in man wish should be considered inviolable, to prevent modification or deletion. At present, the concept of human dignity holds a huge number of values, rights and statements, without a clear definition about its meaning, suggesting that the term itself would be enough to sustain such construction. This paper tries to do a review of the concept of Human Dignity, taking as more relevant sources Greco – Roman thought, Judeo-Christian thought, the Kantian thought and reflected thinking in the various treaties as The Human Rights and UNESCO. Human dignity setup our personal identity, on two levels the basic dignity of the human being (given by nature) and the full dignity of human being (due to culture).
