The epidemic of HIV-AIDS has established a plateau, but it has not decreased and the opportunistic illnesses are still one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in these patients. Objectives:
To determine the existence of association between the opportunistic infection type and the level of CD4+ cells.Methodology:
Transversal study carried out in the Guayaquil hospital of the city of Guayaquil; crowd 98 patients who presented opportunistic infections. Statisticalanalysis:
ANOVA test and Simple Lineal Regression Analysis. Results:
There is no important relationship between the CD4+ figures and the opportunist infection type (P > 0.05).Conclusions:
Although the CD4+ measurement is useful for monitoring the result of the treatment, and other aspects, it is not to establish specifically the opportunist infection type.Palabras clave
