Asociación de antígenos HLA y enfermedades oftalmológicas / Association of HLA antigens and ophthalmologic diseases

RESUMEN

La existencia de ciertas enfermedades de carácter autoinmune, infeccioso y de otras condiciones clínicas, ocurre con mayor frecuencia en aquellos individuos que expresan determinados alelos del sistema principal de histocompatibilidad (SPH). Se revisan algunas de las hipótesis que tratan de explicar esta asociación estadística, entre las que se encuentran algunas enfermedades oftalmológicas, en especial uveítis, queratitis, retinitis y neuritis. Se describen dichas afecciones y se hace una revisión actualizada de la asociación entre estas y los antígenos del sistema principal de histocompatibilidad.

ABSTRACT

The existance of some diseases of autoimmune infectious character and of other clinical conditions is more common in those individuals who express certain alleles of the main hystocompatibility system (MHS). Some of the hypotheses trying to explain this statistical association, among which there are some ophthalmological diseases, specially uveitis, keratitis, retinitis and neuritis, are reviewed. Such affections are described and an updated review of the association between them and the antigens of the main histocompatibility system are described.
