ABSTRACT
This article aims at reflecting on Freud's drive theory according to some views firstly, the distinction between the drive theory and the corresponding concept of instinct, in which the indetermination factor ins seen as the main factor of distinction between both concepts (Drive and Instinct); secondly, it tries to justify the need of the creation of the drive concept as a requirement of the election methodology used by Freud (analyses), trying to track the ancient philosophical routs (epicurist) of the analytical method; finally, it seeks to make a critical revision to the Freud's drive theory in the light of the post-Freudian improvements, accomplished by the kleinian school.
