Condições de vida, redes e apoio social na procura por serviços de saúde / Living conditions, networks, and social support in finding health services

RESUMO

O presente estudo parte de uma analise das condições de vida população em estudo e suas relações com o tipo de redes e de apoio social (pensados enquanto determinantes sociais) na procura por serviços de saúde de um município do Sul do Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico descritivo de base populacional, com desenho seccional, que utilizou coleta e análise quantitativa dos dados. Observaram-se diferenças na procura por serviços de saúde segundo os níveis de vida e as características das redes sociais; para as dimensões do apoio social não houve associação entre os níveis de vida e a procura de serviços, como reflexo das diferenças no comportamento dos sujeitos frente às doenças, indo além da organização da oferta ou disponibilidade de serviços, onde o ato de procurar atendimento passa pelas escolhas individuais. O estudo das redes de apoio e do apoio social aparece como instrumento capaz de dar voz à complexidade de fatores que interferem no modo de vida e saúde dos indivíduos, sugerindo a importância desses como determinantes sociais na procura por serviços de saúde.

ABSTRACT

This study starts with an analysis of living conditions of the study population and their relationship with the type of networks and social support (thought of as social determinants) in the demand for health services in a municipality in southern Brazil. This is a descriptive population-based epidemiological study, with a cross-sectional design, using quantitative data collection and analysis. Differences were observed in the demand for health services according to living standards and the characteristics of the social networks; for the dimensions of social support, there was no association between living standards and the demand for services, reflecting the differences in subjects? behavior regarding diseases, going beyond the organization of the supply or availability of services, where the act of searching for assistance takes place through individual choices. In this context, the study of support networks and of social support appears as an instrument capable of giving voice to the complexity of factors that interfere in the way of life and health of the individuals, suggesting their importance as social determinants in accessing and utilizing healthcare services.
