RESUMO

O transtorno de ansiedade social ou fobia social é caracterizado pelo medo acentuado durante situações sociais ou de desempenho. Considerado um problema de saúde mental, possui curso crônico por vezes incapacitante. Este estudo objetiva fornecer um panorama das produções acadêmicas referentes a Teses e Dissertações da CAPES, defendidas entre 1987 e 2009, utilizando como descritores os termos “Fobia Social” e/ou “Transtorno de Ansiedade Social”. Os resultados encontraram27 trabalhos. Os enfoques dos estudos foram agrupados nas seguintes categorias temáticas Tratamento; Comorbidade; Validação/Propriedades Psicométricas; Diagnóstico/ Prevalência; Revisão Crítica e Teórica. Nota-se a importância de mais estudos sobre este tema, para fornecer uma melhor compreensão do seu desenvolvimento e maior divulgação entre os profissionais de saúde

ABSTRACT

The social anxiety disorder or social phobia is characterized by an exorbitant fear during social or performance situations. Considered as a mental health problem, it has a chronic course and it is oftendisabling. This study aimed to provide an overview of academic productions related to the CAPESTheses and Dissertations from 1987 to 2009, using as keywords the terms “Social Phobia” or "Social Anxiety Disorder". The results found 27 works. The focus of study could be grouped into the following thematic categories Treatment, Comorbidity, Validation/Psychometric Properties; Diagnosis/Prevalence, Critical and Theoretical Review. We highlight the importance of further studiesabout this subject to provide a better understanding of its development and wider disseminationamong health professionals
