Corpo, cultura e sincretismo: o ritual da Congada / Body, culture and syncretism: the Congada manifestation

RESUMO

O trabalho tem como objetivo descrever e analisar a Congada como um elemento sincrético que possibilita a relação do corpo – construção social – com o sagrado e o profano. Para tanto se desenvolveu uma etnografia, tendo-se como caso estudado a Congada Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Os resultados apontam quehá nesta manifestação um sistema ritual que se constitui com base em elementos transcendentais, sendo a maneira encontrada pelo grupo para estabelecer a relação com o sagrado, representando sua identidade cultural afrodescendente em um contexto sociocultural moderno, como é o caso de Brasília.

ABSTRACT

This paper has the aim to describe and analyze the Congada manifestation as an element of syncretism that enables the relationship among the body, as a social construction, the sacred and the profane. For that purpose, I developed an ethnography for studying this manifestation of the Congada Irmandade Nossa Senhora do Rosário. The results show that there is, in this manifestation, a ritual systemgrounded on transcendental elements, which the group used to establish a relation with the body as sacred, representing its afrodescendingcultural identity in the social context of a modern city such as Brasília.
