Introduction:
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterizedby hyper-responsiveness of the lowers airways and variablelimitation of the air flow, being able to trigger a series of musculoskeletalalterations. These alterations can be evaluated by angles measurementusing the computerized biophotogrammetry. Objective:
Toanalyze the Charpy´s angle in asthmatic children, comparing it withnon-asthmatic children. Methods:
Were analyzed 50 children dividedinto 2 groups, the first called Asthmatic Group (AG), composed of25 patients. The second, called Control Group (CG) composed of25 randomly chosen children. The Charpy´s angle has been measuredusing computerized biophotogrammetry and quantified bysoftware ALCimage® version 2.0.Results:
The Charpy´s angle averagein the CG was 90,6 ± 11,1 and in the AG w as 94,2 ± 9,1. It wasnot been observed any significant statistically difference among thegroups (p = 0,22).Conclusion:
In the experimental conditions ofthis study, it was not verified significant alterations in the Charpy´sangle. However, we suggest that new researches should be done witha larger population, because the used tool is reliable and validated, being a helpful tool for the physiotherapist.
