La promoción de salud en el programa de la especialidad de medicina general integral en Cuba / Health promotion in the program of the integral general medicine specialty in Cuba

RESUMEN

Con el propósito de valorar la congruencia de la Promoción de Salud (PS) en el currículo de la especialidad de MGI en Cuba con los fundamentos y las necesidades en la Atención Primaria, y evaluar la integración de la PS en el plan de estudios, se desarrolló una investigación de evaluación curricular interna en la que se utilizaron métodos de análisis documental y encuestas, descripción y triangulación de la información. Se evidenció que existe un marco político favorable para desarrollar la PS, pero el currículo no es suficientemente congruente con las necesidades actuales del Sistema de Salud y las tendencias internacionales. La integración de la PS carece de una adecuada conceptualización diferenciada del enfoque riesgo y la PS; la integración de la temática en los módulos de estudio es escasa, aislada y con poca articulación; predominan las habilidades sobre acciones curativas, y el módulo de PS tiene deficiencias de diseño.

ABSTRACT

With the objective of assessing the consistency of the health promotion in the curriculum of the integral general medicine specialty in Cuba with the fundamentals and needs of the primary health care, and of evaluation the integration of health promotion into the curriculum, an internal curricular evaluation research was carried out in which documentary analysis, surveys, description and triangulation of information were used. It was shown that there is a favorable political framework to develop the health promotion but the curriculum is not sufficiently consistent with the present needs of the health system and the international tendencies. The integration of the health promotion fails to have adequate differentiated conceptualization of the risk approach and the health promotion; the integration of the topic into the curriculum modules is poor, isolated and barely articulated. Abilities predominate over the curative actions and the health promotion module has deficiencies in its design.
