Carcinoma mucoepidermoide central: reporte de un caso / Central mucoepidermoid carcinoma: a case report

RESUMEN

Se presenta el caso clínico de un paciente que acudio a la Unidad de Estomatología y Cirugía Bucomaxilofacial del Hospital de Clínicas de La Paz, por dolor tipo urente y lesión ulcerosa en reborde alveolar mandibular izquierdo de aproximadamente 6 meses de evolución; fue sometido a biopsia excisional bajo anestesia general para su respectivo estudio histopatológico, mismo que reporta CARCINOMA MUCOEPIDERMOIDE CENTRAL. La baja frecuencia de esta entidad tumoral maligna motiva su presentación y revisión bibliográfica.

ABSTRACT

We present the case of a patient who consulted with the Unit ofStomatology and Bucomaxilofacial Surgery of the Hospital deClínicas in La Paz. The patient referred burning pain and an ulcerouslesion on the left alveolar edge of the mandibula of approximately 6months evolution. The patient was submitted to an excision biopsyunder general anaesthesia for the respective histopathologicalexamination. The result showed CENTRAL MUCOEPIDERMOIDCARCINOMA. Given the low frequency of this malignant tumour, wewere motivated to present this case with a bibliographic review.
