Colo-rectal injuries.

The records of the patients with colo-rectal injuries treated in the Division of Traumatology, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital between Jan 1983-Dec 1987 were reviewed. There were 28 males and 7 females. The age of the patients were from 7 to 54 years old. The major cause of injury was penetrating would (13 gun shot would and 12 stab would). The indications for operation were the same as for exploratory laparotory in the abdominal injury. There were 25 colonic injuries and 10 rectal injuries. The most common site of injury was transverse colonic injuries were treated by primary repair. All the patients with rectal injuries had diverting colostomy. There were eight patients with complications. There was no mortality in this study.
