ABSTRACT
Objective To approach the relationship between sources of work pressure and level of men-tal health in operating room nurses. Methods 130 operating room nurses from 5 general hospitals in Zhe-jiang province were investigated with Chinese nurses stressor scale, self-rating depression scale (SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS). Results Work pressure mainly came from nursing speciality and work,work load and time and work environment and time assignment, patient nursing, management and interpersonal rela-tions came secondly. Anxiety and depression of operating room nurses were higher than normal persons. The scores of anxiety and depression were correlated with nursing speciality and work, work load and time, pa-tient nursing, management and interpersonal relations, but was not correlated with work environment and time assignment. Conclusions There are various sources of work pressure in operating room nurses, meanwhile their mental health level is low. Regulators should take corresponding measures, relieve their work pressure and improve their mental health.
