ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the effects of pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) and its receptor (PACAP-R) on the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods The expression of PACAP and PACAP-R in the skin from 10 normal controls, 25 psoriatic lesions and non-lesional skins was measured by immunohistochemical technique. Results The expression of PACAP and PACAP-R was significantly lower in the psoriatic lesional skins than that of the non-lesional skins.
