ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
To discuss the general regularity and the characteristics of the drug-induced edema caused by traditional Chinese medicine injections (TCMI) so as to provide basis for rational drugs use in the clinic.METHODS:
61 cases of drug-induced edema caused by TCMI publicly reported in domestic journal from 1994 to 2007 were analyzed statistically.RESULTS:
The drug-induced edema caused by TCMI was not linked to sex and age. The symptom appeared in a short period and edema was induced in 44 cases within 30 min (72.1%). Laryngeal edema accounted for 54.1% and ocular angioedema 34.4%. 23 kinds of TCMI were involved, among which top 5 drugs in the list of incidence were Qingkailing injection, Shuanghuanglian injection, Yuxingcao injection, etc.CONCLUSION:
Great importance should be attached to the monitoring of the clinical use of TCMI to promote the safety of TCMI.
