ABSTRACT
Objective:
To compare the content of amino acid in female and male plants of Trichosanthes kirilowii. Methods:
Total protein was hydrolyzed by hydrochloric acid, and then determined by HPLC.Results:
The percentage of amino acid in female and male plants of Trichosanthes kirilowii was 7. 35% and 7. 04%, respectively. Conclusion:
The method provides a new idea for the determi-nation of amino acid in the root of Trichosanthes kirilowii. The total amino acid content in the root of male plants is lower than that of fe-male plants, while the content of alkaline amino acid is opposite. The content of histidine in male plants is about twice as much as that in female plants. The essential amino acid content has no significant difference.
