ABSTRACT
Objective:
To establish an HPLC method for the determination of three bacteriostatic agents ( methylparaben, eth-ylparaben, propylparaben) in taurine eye drops. Methods:
The HPLC method was conducted on a Phenomenex Gemini C18 column ( 250 mm × 4. 6 mm, 5 μm ). The mobile phase was 1% acetic acid-methanol(4060). The flow rate was 1. 0 ml·min-1 and the de-tection wavelength was 254 nm with the injection volume of 20 μl and the column temperature of 25℃.Results:
Methylparaben, eth-ylparaben and propylparaben showed good linear relationship (r>0. 999)within the range of 1. 00-19. 94μg·ml-1,2. 01-20. 08μg· ml-1 and 0. 21-10. 46 μg·ml-1,respectively. The average recoveries were 99. 20%-99. 90%, and the RSDs were 1. 34%-1. 54%(n=9).Conclusion:
The method is accurate, reproducible and stable without interference, which can be used for the determination of three bacteriostatic agents in taurine eye drops.
